In mid December 2010, as part of an ongoing commitment to providing state-of-the-art patient care, to the residents of Columbia and its surrounding communities, the GE Healthcare's DiscoveryTM MR450 MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) system, was added to an outpatient MR imaging clinic, located at Medical Park One on the Palmetto Health Richland Campus.
MRI is a non-invasive procedure used to visualize the structure and function of the body, relying on a powerful magnetic field to produce detailed images of the body in any plane. The Discovery MR450 offers substantial benefits for patients in need of an MRI, including increased comfort, reduced exam times, and less need for rescanning due to patient movement.
The Discovery MR450's powerful 1.5T magnet delivers strong whole-body gradients, resulting in fast and highly accurate reproducible scans in high definition, providing physicians the ability to see smaller structures.
